He was educated in the public schools of Frederick, and under his father’s training, became a skillful veterinarian. Mr. Fraley remained with his father until he married, and began business for himself. Besides practicing his profession, Mr. Fraley dealt in live stock, and was so successful that he was said to be the largest dealer in Frederick County. He also paid some attention to the breeding of race horses, and sold a number that made a good record. He had full charge of the Lewis McMurry stables, and also of the stables of L. Victor Baughman. Lewis H. Fraley was educated in the public schools of Frederick, and when he was twelve, began to learn butchering with his uncle, L. C. Derr, with whom he remained for nine years. When Mr. Derr was elected sheriff of Frederick County, he retired from business, and Mr. Fraley secured a position as clerk with the firm of B. Rosenour & Sons. He has had several promotions, and is now head salesman for the firm. He ascribes his success to close attention to the interests of his employers.
