Thomas S. Eader, D.D.S., who has won much success in dental surgery, and con ducts an office at No. 38 North Market street, Frederick City, was born in that place, April 10, 1860. He is a son of Augustus L. and Annie M. (Mann) Eader.

The American progenitor of the Eader family came from Alsace-Lorraine to this country nearly a hundred and fifty years ago.

Thomas S. Eader, the grandfather of Dr. Thomas S. Eader, spent his life in Frederick County, Md. He was married to Margaret Weaver. They were the parents of six children:; John, William, Augustus L., Annie, Amelia, and Rosa.

Augustus L. Eader, son of Thomas S. and Margaret (Weaver) Eader, was born in Frederick County, September 22, 1820, and died in Frederick City, February 11, 1907. He was raised in his native county. He was a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Frederick. He served for twelve years as clerk of the Frederick County Commissioners, discharging his duties with marked fidelity and ability. Mr. Eader was married to Annie M. Mann. She survives her husband, and is residing in Frederick at the age of sixty-eight years. Mr. and Mrs. Eader were the parents of three sons: Thomas S.; Charles M., a traveling salesman of Baltimore, Md.; and Bernard J., of Frederick.

Thomas S. Eader, son of Augustus L. and Annie M. (Mann) Eader, grew up in Frederick and was educated in the public schools and Frederick City Academy. At the age of eighteen years he became a clerk for the drygoods firm of Walker & Cramer, of Frederick City. Here he was employed for one year. Having decided to take up the study of dental surgery, he then began his preparation for that profession in the office of the late Dr. McSherry, of Frederick City, whose assistant he was for a number of years, attended lectures and graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, 1882, In 1883, Dr. Eader opened a dental office of his own in the old Etchison Building in South Market street. In 1908, he removed to his present location in North Market street. Dr. Eader has been engaged in the practice of his profession in Frederick for the last twenty-eight years, and today ranks as one of the leaders in that science. He is the possessor of a large practice, which has been attracted by his skill. He has an enviable reputation in his line and has achieved much success in his chosen work.

Politically, Dr. Eader is a loyal adherent of the cause of the Democracy. He is well known in fraternal circles, holding membership in Lynch Lodge, No. 163, A. P. and A. M.; Mountain City Lodge, No. 29, Knights of Pythias; Chippewa Tribe, No. 19, Independent Order of Red Men; Frederick City Lodge, No. 100, I. O. O. F.; Modern Woodmen of America ; Modern Brotherhood of America; Knights of Maccabees; Ben Hadad Temple, D. 0. K. K.; and the Knights of the Ancient Essenic Order. In religion, Dr. Eader is a member of the Lutheran Church, in which he served as organist and choirmaster for a period of sixteen years. For the past quarter of a century he has been prominent in musical circles of Frederick City. He is held in high regard by all who know him and is one of the leading citizens of the city. He resides in a handsome home in Clark Place.

Dr. Eader was married April 24, 1884, to Catharine R. Ebert, of Frederick City. She is a daughter of John and Catharine R. (Ramsburg) Eader. There are six children by this marriage: Annie Elizabeth, Pauline E., Louise, wife of E. D. Johnson, of Cumberland, Md.; Margaret; Thomas Stephen; and Catharine Rebecca.
